Our Story
Peter and Jeremiah saw a lack of digital solutions for supporting inclusion and student voice within education. In order to address this need they set up Every1 Limited combining Peter’s expertise in pupil engagement and education with Jeremiah’s expertise of digital media and games design.
Every1 Limited uses gaming methodology in a visually stimulating way to solve challenges within education. Every1Speaks sets out to create an easy way for school communities to share ideas and opinions more openly and freely. It can be used to replace short surveys of the student population but its real value exists when used as an integral part of daily school life. It aims to complement student councils by ensuring that Every1 is heard and opinions are representative.
Every1Speaks is an evolving product and that is why it has been designed as an online solution. As schools explore student voice and collaborative approaches to learning more deeply and conversations evolve so too will the platform. It will be updated and changed based upon the voice of its users; in the same way that we hope it will help schools change based upon the voices of their pupils.
Our Team
Peter Hirst, Director
Peter has worked closely with schools for over five years around themes of enterprise, creativity, confidence and thinking skill development. He met Jeremiah via collaborating on a Student Voice project as part of a school’s Creative Partnership’s programme. They hit it off and have been working together for close to two years to improve internal communication and democracy using technology within schools. Outside of work he’s a keen sportsman and holiday-er.
Jeremiah Alexander, Director
Jeremiah is a serial entrepreneur who’s passion is making learning playful. After setting up Ideonic in 2006, his ventures have focused purely around playful learning, and social change, working with clients such as NESTA, BECTA, The Tate and Channel 4. Jeremiah has been recognised for his ideas and creativity not only personally being a finalist in the British Council’s UK Young Interactive Entrepreneur 2009, but also with Ideonic, who won a Guardian Media Innovation Award in 2010. When Jeremiah is not generating ideas, he can be found programming, cooking, reading or running.
Adam Gatenby, User Experience Engineer
What exactly does a User Experience Engineer do? Well in Adam’s case it means spending half of his time designing the perfect experience a user can have when using an application and the other half of the time actually building it. An extremely rare match of skills, he should be proud, but not content with just software Adam applies this approach to all areas of his life including running, where he is an active member in the barefoot movement – running barefoot is supposedly a more mechanically correct user experience.
Becky McCartney, Exceptional Creative
Ey up! Becky is our exceptional graphic designer from Stockton-On-Tees (don’t let that put you off!). She consumes carrots for breakfast until the weekend when she’s onto the whiskey, carbs and occasional mojito. A hard worker and when she’s not in the office you’ll find her at the gym (she would most likely beat you in an arm wrestle).
Clément Gonnet, Web Developer
Clément has travelled from the land of les Français to demonstrate many of his skills and fine traits. Some of these skills include being a web development genius, growing a neat moustache and baking a mean loaf of bread (or so I’ve heard!). Clément has a whole wealth of talents to bring to the board not to mention being one friendly dude!
Philippa Lee, Digital Producer
Philippa is our Digital Producer from the sandy beaches of Whitley Bay. She is a competitive runner with a slight addiction to cups of tea and chocolate cake (In moderation of course). She is the creative half of her twin sister, who tends to go to work for her so she can stay in bed (only joking…kind of). Besides all that, she has enough enthusiasm to fuel a rocket!
Caius Eugene, Gameplay Engineer
Caius originally from Aylesbury came to Newcastle to study. A passionate Games and Interactive Media designer liked Newcastle so much he has now settled here with his girlfriend Liz. Caius strives to make a change and bring something new to the games industry and with his talent will go a long way.
