Crowd Sourcing and Student Voice : They’re the same thing right? Not exactly, but there is much cross over. Thanks to Better Brand Agency for posting this interesting blog. It made us (Every1Speaks), think how similar these two important topics are. How easy is it to replace the words ‘company/brand’ with ‘school’, ‘NPD – New Product Development’ with ‘school change’ and ‘audience/customer’ with ‘pupil’. These two topics are so closely linked, it makes sense to consider the impact of inter changing the terms. The following two paragraphs were most striking, after we inserted the school spin on the article: The benefits of this are obvious; the cost of innovation is less, as SCHOOLS build what their PUPILS tell them what...
“The purpose of education is to enable people to understand, navigate, contribute to, challenge and change the world.” For some people voice can be broken down to sounds formed by exhalation of air from the lungs. For me it’s the expression of who we are; shared meanings subtly developed over thousands of years. The mastery of one’s own voice (both verbally and written), is the single most important purpose of education. The transformation of air into meaning was fundamental in the development of the human race and without discussion, cooperation and shared goals could not be established. Voice in this context has been transferred into the written word through which we live our lives immersed in data, opinion and facts. ...
Every1speaks is buzzing with excitement this week, after receiving a glowing report from a leading industry publication. We’re featured on page 17 of their online publication. ICT for Education has been reviewing technology related products for several years, sharing expertise with their network of over 20,000 monthly readers nationwide. ICT for Education is an independent reviewer of techology related products in schools…. ICT for Education is in agreement with every1speaks – “student voices are invaluable” and with the help of our software, “everyone can contribute”. The review also included details of our ‘early adopter’ scheme, where we’re looking for 20 schools interested in Student Voice. The stage of development in school is irrelevant so if you’re a hive of student...
Peter and Jeremiah, recently attended an evening event in Newcastle where educational professionals, school governors, and policy makers met to discuss the national curriculum. Teach Meet offers teachers the opportunity to share best best practice in the classroom through peer CPD. This event was part of the national debate in London, held on 3rd of March, which gave educational professionals an opportunity to voice opinions about the National Curriculum and start a debate about what is taught in schools. As part of the TeachMeet style micro-presentations, we were treated to a key note by internationally acclaimed educationalist Shell Terrell, who’s presentation can be found here. Terrell put forward the argument that the world of tomorrow is global and students of...
A-Level results day brings tears of joy and sorrow in equal amounts. Some will be over the moon at the prospect of starting Uni in September on the course they’ve researched for the last year and diligently worked towards… Others will be licking the wounds to their pride inflicted by a year spent socialising and procrastinating. 9 years ago I fell between the two camps, underachieving but scraping onto the course i’d chosen at the university i’d set my heart on. The university experience was one that certainly shaped me and I’m hard pressed to highlight any other that impacted my life as significantly. I thrived at university with the freedom to explore new subject areas, taught in a way I really engaged with....
